Mobius Current Sensor Modules:

The growing market for smart meters is placing strains on the meter design process. Demands for faster product development, new features, and lower inventory costs make pre-packaged design solutions and a modular approach to design more attractive.In response to this need, and building on their commitment to delivering platform technologies for the metering industry, Sentec is targeting a ready packaged metrology solution, a current sensor module for smart, single phase residential and commercial meters at 5-100 A.
The Mobius modular solution builds on the core benefits of Mobius, Sentec’s low cost current sensor solution, adding busbars and a digital interface that provides access to all necessary metrological information. This package can easily be integrated into any meter design. Mobius is a proprietary current sensor technology already in production in millions of meters in the ANSI market, where it has proved itself with more than 3 billion service hours. Its benefits include high accuracy, wide dynamic range and inherent magnetic field immunity. 
Packaging the Mobius technology into the Mobius Metrology Module will allow designers to concentrate on the meter and system level applications, ensuring that the smart features meet their requirements, without having to worry about metrological performance. The Mobius Metrology Module can be easily integrated into any meter design for a low-cost, high performance current sensor solution. Sentec is planning for the modules to be available from mid 2010. Evaluation kits will be available earlier for selected partners. This design will be suitable for single phase meters, with a 3 phase design available later in 2010.
